Disciples Volunteering
This web-site is particularly focused on the ministry of Disciples Volunteering: Disaster Response, although other ministries are linked to on the "Partner Missions" page. Disciples Volunteering: Disaster Response coordinates the long term mission of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) following disaster. In the fall of 2005, Disciples congregations and members responded to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita with a tremendous outpouring of support. Among the millions affected by these two storms, the needs of Disciples families and congregations across the Gulf Coast were also high. In this convergence of great need and generous giving, this ministry was called into being. Coordinated by Disciples Home Missions' Disciples Volunteering and financially supported by Week of Compassion, Disciples Volunteering: Disaster Response calls people of faith to Get Dirty for Jesus as we rebuild homes and transform lives.
